RMCC/CycleSmith had a great weekend of racing at the Xzude Bear Lake Classic on Sat and Sun. Nick Ekdahl (club president) took 3rd and Carl Majors (good guy) took 6th in the CAT 3 race. Then Pete Archambault, Nick Ekdahl and Chris Colgan took 3rd in the Masters TTT on Sunday. Good racing with friends, food, fun and beer = A GREAT weekend.

Arguably one of the most storied names in all of cycling, the famous Reparto Corse (Race Shop) of Bianchi has been churning out high-end and high-fashion road bikes for over 125 years (Edoardo Bianchi opened up his first shop in Milan in 1885). Names like Galletti, Coppi and Gimondi are part of the Bianchi racing mystique and history as well as more recently, Marco Pantani and Jan Ullrich. The Infinito emerges from this storied past as an extension of the popular 928 C2C design from Bianchi but features a slightly longer head tube (1.5 centimeters longer), longer chainstays and a longer wheelbase for a smoother and more comfortable-feeling bike.
THE RIDE
After riding the other high-end offerings in our Euro Roundup, the under-$3000 Bianchi sat in the corner for a while, playing second fiddle to the more expensive bikes. Once we saddled up and took the Infinito on our first ride, however, it shined in almost every category. While not in the featherweight class, the Inifinito climbed remarkably well and with confidence. On descents, the bike was a smooth partner, not prone to make quick moves, but responsive enough to encourage speed and confidence. On two long rides, the Infinito stood out as not only a comfortable bike for longer days in the saddle, but it also has some more performance-focused attributes when we needed to sprint or corner at speeds. We would upgrade from the Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels that come on the Infinito and keep this bike for a long time of fun riding.
Thank you Road Bike Action!
Come down to the shop and saddle one up…. You will love it!

Let’s go pound out some miles. Meet at the shop @ 9:30 and we’ll make a plan from there. We may have some hard core riders and some recreational riders, so we may split up into two groups. Everyone is welcome to join!

If you’ve lived in Utah long enough you’ve probably heard rumors of a velodrome to be built for as long as you can remember. It finally appears the dream is being realized. A velodrome is in the plan to be built as part of the Field House Multi-sport Complex in Ogden, Utah.
Velodromes don’t come cheap though. So come on out to theTour De Drome, a benefit ride, on Saturday May 1st to show your support for this long awaited bike track ‘o fun!
For more info on the tour and to register check out the website: http://tourdedrome.com/
I can picture it now…get out of work on a week night, spin on up to Ogden on the Legacy Parkway bike path for some track racing and a serious adrenalin rush! Finish the night up with some Ice Cream and beverage of your choice and a spin back home to Salt Lake as the raging sun dips behind Antelope Island.
It’s hard not to romanticize something we’ve been waiting so long for! See you there!

This photo was taken(with my phone…sorry for the low quality) on my ride over to East Canyon, about a 1/4 mile past the gate(ride-able to this point), just this past Sunday. It looks like we’re on track to be riding this classic lung buster of a climb to Big Mountain a bit earlier this season. The snow pack seems far less this year and we also have warm weather in the immediate forecast. 60’s early next week! Bring your bike in for next day service to ensure your bike is ready to see how East Canyon is thawing out!
